Capsulotomy system simplifies and improves cataract surgery
An automated method to ensure a precise incision of the capsular bag for cataract surgery should soon be commercially available from International Biomedical Devices Inc. The Aperture Continuous Thermal Capsulotomy System (ApertureCTC) uses thermal energy delivered through a microincision to a 360-degree, small, steel ring placed on the anterior capsule to create a perfectly round and smooth incision in mere milliseconds.
