The introduction of the German diagnosis related groups (DRG) system for hospital reimbursement in 2003 has prompted B Braun to reassess its product manufacture and services processes. This new approach has helped Melsungen-based B Braun's sales to rise to E2.64 billion ($2.4 billion) in 2001, an increase of 8% compared with the previous year, says the company. Operating profit reached E141 million, an increase of 10% compared with 2000.
