Kristini Miles: As head of regulatory (and a regulatory toxicologist) at The Honey Pot Co., a typical day for me can be described in one word – DYNAMIC! There is a constant mix of known and unknown challenges (and opportunities) that are encountered working cross-functionally to provide regulatory guidance and education, develop business strategy and ultimately deliver solutions. My primary responsibility involves leveraging my expertise to drive sound science-based decisions while supporting country-specific regulatory requirements. I advocate for my organization’s interests via trade associations, such as IBA, and stay abreast of emerging scientific and regulatory areas of interest through various non-profit organizations, media outlets and professional networks. My role also has short- and long-term forecasting elements that are needed to effectively support our strategic business plan. In addition, I collaborate very closely with our legal and leadership team to advise on product safety concerns, regulatory compliance, and product stewardship-based activities. Last but not least, I dedicate time to share my experience and perspective to help advance the field of Toxicology while opening doors for future scientists through teaching, special committee/advisory panel assignments, and mentoring.
