US representatives Abigail Spanberger and David McKinley have introduced bipartisan legislation to create an emergency supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients used in vital generics and to incentivize domestic manufacturing of these ingredients, under the banner of the Promoting Readiness and Ensuring Proper Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Reserves of Essential Medicines Act. Spanberger and McKinley noted that senators Sherrod Brown and Bill Cassidy are leading identical legislation in the US Senate.
