Medicines For Europe Has Called For Humanitarian Corridors To Remain Open

As the invasion of Ukraine continues, trade bodies, manufacturers and individuals across the off-patent industry have stepped up to try and maintain supply of essential medicines to the region.

Off-patent trade association Medicines for Europe has committed to providing medicines on humanitarian grounds to all those in need impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The conflict is now entering its third week. The priority for its members, Medicines for Europe said, is “to continue to ensure that patients in Ukraine and refugees arriving in EU member states have access to the medicines and medical materials they need.”

Medicines for Europe is engaging with authorities and non-governmental organizations on the ground to ensure ongoing access to medicines and medical supplies. It is in contact with the Ukrainian government and companies operating in the country to assess what medicines are needed and to request supplies from its member companies
