AAM Laments Price Negotiation Legislation Passing US Senate

‘Flawed’ Law Will ‘Further Frustrate Access’ To Generics And Biosimilars

The AAM has criticized the passage of the US Inflation Reduction Act though the country’s Senate, claiming that the legislation’s “flawed framework for government price setting” will chill generic and biosimilar development and will reduce patient access.

The US Association for Accessible Medicines has criticized the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act though the country’s Senate, arguing that its “flawed framework for government price setting” will chill generic and biosimilar development while also compromising patient access to generics and biosimilars.

The bill was passed by a 51-50 vote, along party lines, on 7 August, with vice president Kamala Harris issuing the casting vote
