DEVICE USER FEES SHOULD BE PROTECTED FROM DEFICIT REDUCTION USE through a "carefully crafted" user fee bill, Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) declared July 14 at a House Energy and Commerce/Health Subcommittee hearing on medical device user fee legislation. User fees, according to the Energy and Commerce Committee chairman, must be insulated from the "constant pressure" of "the administration generally and others to get that money and to divert it into general budgetary purposes."
