Senate Medicare Coverage Bill Restricts HCFA Outpatient PPS Proposal

The Health Care Financing Administration would be required to use average rather than median costs in setting payment weights for medical devices reimbursed on an outpatient basis, under legislation introduced Sept. 23 by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).
