HCFA Relying Increasingly On "Cross-Walking" Codes For New Lab Tests

As many as 16 of the 56 new CPT codes that HCFA "cross-walked" to existing codes on its Medicare clinical laboratory fee schedule in 2001 may not meet basic levels of clinical similarity.
