St. Jude Persists In Effort To Correct The Record On Riata Study

“We will continue to work through the proper channels with the HeartRhythm journal and the Heart Rhythm Society to ensure there is an appropriate presentation of validated, accurate information,” a company spokeswoman said.

St. Jude Medical Inc. is not letting up on its campaign to correct what it says are fundamental errors in a study suggesting an elevated risk of death from short-circuits in its recalled Riata and Riata ST implantable cardioverter defibrillator leads.

The company on April 6 called for a retraction of the paper, posted online last month in the journal HeartRhythm and written by electrophysiologist Robert Hauser and colleagues from the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation
