One-Third of Surveyed Device Firms Expect Increased Customer Base From ACA

The survey of 123 device executives sponsored by MassMEDIC probed the impact of the Affordable Care Act. Of the 33 percent who expect an increase in patient customer base from the insurance expansion, about one-quarter said it would be enough to counter the negative impact of the device excise tax.

One-third of device firms queried by a MassMEDIC-commissioned survey said they expect the insurance expansion from the Affordable Care Act to increase their patient customer base. And about one-quarter of those companies said the new business would be enough to cover the ACA’s medical device excise tax.

The survey results were released by the Massachusetts-based regional device trade association May 8 at its annual conference in Boston....
