Alcon To Buy IOL Guidance System Maker WaveTec

WaveTec’s ORA system, intended to support optimal positioning of intraocular lenses during cataract surgery, will be integrated into Alcon’s existing cataract line under a purchase agreement announced Aug. 27.

Eye care giant Alcon Inc. is acquiring WaveTec Vision Systems Inc., a privately-held company that has developed a system for improving the implantation of intraocular lenses (IOLs) in cataract patients.
