HHS Watchdog Will Scrutinize FDA's Handle On Device Network Security

HHS’s Office of the Inspector General will examine FDA oversight of networked medical devices used in hospitals. The office’s work plan also includes scrutiny of Medicare payments for replacement devices, power mobility devices, orthotic braces and more.

Growing concern over the security of networked devices has hit the HHS Office of the Inspector General, which announced plans for a study of FDA oversight of the issue as part of its new 2016 work plan.
