Start Date Set For Bundling, Gainsharing Program For Hip, Knee Implants

CMS gave hospitals and other providers more time to prepare for an expanding bundled payment program targeting hip and knee implant procedures, moving a proposed Jan. 1 start date to April.

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services finalized its plan for a bundled payment model, including hospital-physician gainsharing arrangements, for hip and knee replacement procedures in 800 US hospitals, but delayed the start of the program by several months.
