New Surgical Tool Shines Light On Orthopedic Procedures

Invuity has launched a new illuminated orthopedic surgical tool, adding to its growing line of devices that promise to provide surgeons with improved visibility in an era of smaller and smaller surgical incisions.

San Francisco, CA-based Invuity Inc. has introduced a new surgical instrument designed literally to shed more light on minimally invasive orthopedic surgeries. The device, the Eigr Saber Waveguide with Yankauer suction, combines the company’s handheld illumination technology with the most commonly used surgical suction tool. The result is a product that company CEO Philip Sawyer says gives orthopedic surgeons much better visibility into small surgical sites in minimally invasive as well as open surgical procedures.
