The founders of Valeo Medical believe that endometriosis, a leading cause of infertility in the US, is a type of auto-immune disorder. Based on this premise, Valeo is developing an endometriosis diagnostic by searching for auto-antibodies to a variety of carbohydrate antigens in serum samples. The company believes the market opportunity is great, because there is no non-invasive diagnostic for endometriosis.
