Implantable medical devices specialist Greatbatch is set to work alongside Integrated Sensing Systems (ISSYS), a manufacturer of microelectromechanical technology, to develop miniature wireless implantable sensing solutions. This deal will see Clarence, New York-based Greatbatch enhance its product portfolio, while ISSYS (Ypsilanti, Michigan) is looking to increase the reach of its proprietary technology. The two firms are aiming to commercialise the resulting technology in partnership with OEM medical device manufacturers in the cardiac rhythm management, neurosurgical, neuromodulation, ophthalmology and orthopaedic markets. Financial terms of the partnership were not revealed.
