UK filtration and separations technology specialist Whatman has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of GE Healthcare, following the closing of a £363m ($721m) acquisition transaction. GE, which agreed to purchase the Maidstone, Kent company in February, is looking to fill a gap in its life sciences offerings with Whatman's particular expertise in filtration, as well as in sample capture and storage. Whatman will continue operating as a separate entity, with Kieran Murphy retaining his current position as the firm's CEO.
