AspenBio's appendicitis blood test proves highly sensitive in trials

AspenBio Pharma's investigational blood test for appendicitis could identify patients with the condition at a sensitivity level as high as 94-97%, according to data from clinical trials of the product. This compares to significantly lower diagnostic rates for CT scans, which are more expensive and currently considered the best diagnostic method available for appendicitis, according to the Castle Rock, Colorado firm.
