Volcano's Revolution rotational IVUS (intravascular ultrasound) cleared for sale in Japan:

Following last month's Japanese approval for its s5i integrated IVUS (intravascular ultrasound) device (see Clinica No 1267, p 16), Volcano has received approval in the same country to market its Revolution 45 MHz rotational IVUS imaging catheter. The new approval covers use of the Revolution catheter - the highest frequency IVUS catheter available in Japan - on Volcano's IVG IVUS system. The Rancho Cordova, California firm has scheduled the Japanese launch of the catheter during the fourth quarter of this year. The Revolution catheter is already available in the US and Europe.
