Spacelabs to offer Metrologic bar code scanners with patient monitors:

Spacelabs Medical is to incorporate a bar code scanner option with its patient monitors, enabling doctors to scan patient information directly into a secure electronic record database and thereby reducing medical errors, saving process time and streamlining the workflow. Spacelabs will sell and market bar code scanners manufactured by Blackwood, New Jersey-based Metrologic Instruments under the terms of a multi-year, worldwide sales and marketing agreement. Spacelabs Medical, of Issaquah, Washington, has an installed based of 117,000 patient monitoring systems worldwide.
