Guidant says that the model of Prizm 2 DR defibrillator that it continued to sell from stock after making enhancements to the device in 2002 was a "highly reliable life-saving product". The company has come under fire from the US press for selling the old model even after receiving reports of failure and improving the design, and a lawsuit has been filed against it behalf of a proposed nationwide class of implanted patients.
