US approves Alcon's light filtering IOL (intraocular lens):

The US FDA has approved Alcon's AcrySof Natural single-piece intraocular lens (IOL). The latest product in the Fort Worth, Texas firm's AcrySof range, the new lens contains UV and blue light filters, mimicking the eye's natural lens. It is thought that blue light, as well as UV light, may cause damage to the retina.
