UK firm Gyrus has launched in Europe its somnoplasty system for reducing the size of enlarged tonsils in adults and children over nine years, after gaining CE-mark approval for the product. The single-use, temperature-controlled radiofrequency instruments, which can be used under local anaesthetic and on an outpatient basis, should avoid the bleeding complications associated with conventional tonsillectomy, said the Wokingham firm.
