Johnson & Johnson company Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (OCD) has bought blood bank serology test company Micro Typing Systems and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of OCD. Pompano Beach, Florida-based MTS manufactures a range of reagents and supplies the ID-Micro Typing System, which is used to ensure safe and effective blood transfusions. OCD says the deal will enable it to expand more rapidly in the North American market, where there is a need for more efficient and cost-effective automation platforms.
