Fertimeter, a device which allows women to predict ovulation, has been developed by Elcon based in Netanya, Israel. Tested at the Hadassh Medical Centre in Jerusalem and the Beilinson Medical Centre in Tel Aviv, the system records information about a woman's menstrual cycle by simultaneously measuring cervical mucous and temperature. An OTC version is available for women with fertility problems and those using the rhythm method of birth control. A diagnostic version allows gynaecologists to transfer data from the device's memory onto a personal computer for storing patient data for follow-up visits and statistical research.
