Behring (Germany) is to treble the size of its North American operations with the acquisition of US diagnostics manufacturer Syva. The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 1995. A holding company will be set up for Syva and Massachusetts-based Behring Diagnostics to create an operation with some 1,800 employees and a turnover of $300 million, to which Syva will contribute over $200 million. Behring's worldwide sales will rise 20% to about DM 1,100 million ($700 million).
