Snack crackers question National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) (US) opiate tests:

Further evidence that eating poppy seeds in snack-foods can yield positive opiate tests is published in Clinical Chemistry (May). Investigators at the Travis County Office of the Medical Examiner fed half a box of Sociables snack crackers to two volunteers with no history of opiate use after a woman on probation claimed her positive result was caused by snack biscuits. Forensic scientists took urine samples from the volunteers over a 26-hour period. One sample was above the National Institute on Drug Abuse level for morphine. The US Department of Defense sets much higher limits to avoid such poppy-seed problems.
