Chinese firm Mindray Medical has launched its M7 ultrasound in the US. The device uses the company's System On Chip technology, which allows "premium performance" with a portable system, Mindray claims. The M7 includes other features such as iZoom, which enables the user to view images from a longer distance, and octal-beam imaging, which improves temporal resolution. The product was recently awarded a 2010 "best of the best" red dot design award. Shenzhen-based Mindray has also upgraded its older M5 portable ultrasound system.
