The Scottish government does not have plans to tighten its HIV testing policies, but will consider the data published yesterday by the UK’s Health Protection Agency. The agency claimed the data supports the introduction of universal routine testing, in the belief that it would significantly improve detection and treatment rates (www.clinica.co.uk, 29 November 2011).
“We have no plans to introduce universal HIV testing but would consider the HPA evidence and findings and how these apply to Scotland,” the Scottish Government told Clinica.
