Becton Dickinson has gained automation technology for its microbiology offering by acquiring Dutch firm Kiestra Lab Automation for an undisclosed fee. Kiestra will join BD's diagnostics division, which sells instruments and reagent systems to detect various infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections and cancers to customers including hospitals and clinics, reference labs and blood banks.
