St Jude Medical has withdrawn from market its Brio deep brain stimulation device, designed to treat Parkinson's disease, for two to three months while it fixes a defect. The problem occurred after patients' bodily fluid entered the implanted device – this led to a decrease in electric current that could in turn affect therapy.
