German govt’s innovation fund must also extend to medtech
€1.2bn over four years is how German parliamentary state secretary for health Annette Widmann-Mauz puts it. The G-BA (Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss) reimbursement authority itself prefers the more straightforward €300m per year. One might sound bigger, and the incoming Union-SPD government understandably wants to drum up as much early support as possible for its planned “Innovationsfonds”. But for the medtech industry the only question is: what‘s really in it for us?
