UDIs Should Be Added To Insurance Claims, Panel Agrees

The X12 committee, a panel that helps sets standards for insurance documentation in the US, has agreed that Unique Device Identifiers should be added to Medicare and private-payer claims forms, a move that some groups say could make it easier to track long-term safety and performance of implants. But device companies oppose the move.
