Jeff Immelt will have served 16 years as GE's chairman and CEO when he retires this year. Current president and CEO of GE Healthcare, John Flannery, will succeed Immelt as CEO on Aug 1, and as chairman on Jan 1 2018. Both Flannery and Immelt have been at GE since the 1980s and both have worked in various roles across GE's diverse businesses.
