EU Takes ‘Holistic’ Approach To Diagnosing And Tackling AMR

The European Commission has unveiled its second action plan to tackle antimicrobial resistance, this time under the “one health” banner. This new initiative proposes a set of guidelines for use by the EU member states when planning their anti-resistance strategies, including the promotion of research into new diagnostic tools.

In the latest attempt to tackle the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the European Commission has adopted its “One Health” Action Plan on AMR, including what it calls the plan’s “first deliverable” – a set of EU guidelines intended to promote the prudent use of antimicrobials and aimed at all stakeholders across Europe.
