Philips, Medtronic Seek To Navigate Lung Cancer Patients Toward Better Care

The two medtech leaders announced a partnership to develop and commercialize the LungGPS patient management platform, originally developed by superDimension and acquired by Medtronic in the Coviden merger. The patient and data management platform helps track and manage patients diagnosed with lung nodules, from identifying the nodules on images, through diagnosis, treatment, and long-term survivorship.

Philips Healthcare will help Medtronic PLC' commercialize and develop the LungGPS patient management platform to help advanced imaging centers identify and manage patients with incidental pulmonary nodules within disparate hospital information systems.

LungGPS incorporates natural language processing, an artificial intelligence technology for searching and analyzing medical reports, and Philips' lung cancer screening software to automate routine administrative tasks and standardize clinical workflows for optimal efficiency
