Prior Authorizations Jeopardizing Patient Care, AMA Survey Says

In a new American Medical Association survey, more than nine in 10 physicians – 92% – said prior authorizations needed from insurers to order medical services and treatments delay and negatively impact patient care.

Prior authorizations physicians need to get from private insurers before ordering medical care or prescription drugs are slowing patient care, and in some cases, leading patients to abandon certain care and treatment options, says a new American Medical Association survey of practicing physicians.
