Medtronic Expands Spine Surgery Portfolio By Acquiring Medicrea

Medtronic has announced a deal to buy French spinal surgery company Medicrea for about €200m ($228m). The acquisition makes Medtronic the first company to offer an integrated AI-driven spinal surgery solution.

Medtronic plc will buy French spinal surgery company Medicrea to offer the first “integrated solution” for spine surgery that includes artificial intelligence-enabled surgical planning, personalized spinal implants and robotic assisted surgery, Medtronic announced on 15 July.

Medicrea is focused on technology for the surgical treatment of scoliosis, complex adult and pediatric degenerative deformation, trauma and tumors, including software and implants
