The Biden Administration’s goal to expand broadband into rural communities is getting closer to fruition after the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies approved its fiscal year 2022 budget bill, which includes substantial investments in digital as well as traditional infrastructure. The legislation funds agencies and programs within the US Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Farm Credit Administration.
The funding approved by the subcommittee allocates $907m for rural broadband, an increase of $165m from 2021
