US DOJ Settles With St. Jude, Alere, Avanos For Total Of $88M

The settlements resolve False Claims Act allegations against St. Jude and Alere, as well as misbranding allegations against Avanos Medical.

The US Department of Justice announced a total settlement of almost $88m in three separate cases with medical device manufacturers on 8 July, resolving allegations that included misbranding, sale of defective products, and violations of the False Claims Act.

The largest settlement was $38.75m from Alere Medical Inc. and subsidiary Alere San Diego Inc
