Genetic testing company Sema4 announced plans to buy GeneDx to strengthen Sema4’s health intelligence and genomic screening offers. The combined company is expected to generate $350m in pro forma 2022 revenue.

Just months after genetic-testing and health-data analytics business Sema4 Holdings Corp. combined with blank-check company CM Life Sciences Inc., it announced plans to acquire OPKO Health’s subsidiary GeneDx, Inc. in a deal valued at $623m. Blank-check companies, or SPACs as they are often called, are formed specifically to find a start-up, buy it and take it public.
