On 23 January, the European Commission announced plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) to beat cancer by speeding up medical innovation and research. Its Cancer Imaging Initiative, part of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, will see the power of AI and high-performance computers harnessed to better understand and treat the disease.
