The Food and Drug Administration’s $7.2bn FY 2024 budget is an increase of $372m (10%) in budget authority from last year but does not include any indication the agency is looking for funds for the much-anticipated diagnostics reform.
This was a surprise to some because the FDA often uses budget proposals to highlight its priorities, and regulators in recent months have not been shy in discussing agency plans to use the rulemaking process to bring diagnostics under the FDA’s regulatory umbrella
