On 16 January, the cybersecurity-focused EU NIS 2 Directive entered into force across the EU, giving member states until 17 October 2024 to transpose the directive’s principles into national law. NIS 2 repeals the former NIS Directive, which was introduced in 2016 and was the first EU-wide legal framework on cybersecurity.
