Manufacturing defects have led to a rise in medical devices recalls for the first quarter of 2023, according to the US Product and Safety Recall Index from Sedgwick.
While there was a marginal increase in the number of device recalls in Q1 — 252 compared to 241 in Q4 2022, or a 4.6% rise — the increase in impacted units was more significant, the report says, rising 34% to 83 million for Q1
