Alcon receives approval April 15 for its ophthalmic antibiotic Vigamox (moxifloxacin ophthalmic solution 0.5%) for treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis. The fluoroquinolone antibiotic received a priority review. Alcon says that moxifloxacin's high solubility allows for formulation at a higher concentration than other fourth generation fluoroquinolones.
