FDA REFORM ACTION DELAYED UNTIL SEPTEMBER AS NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE OVER AUGUST RECESS; "MEDGUIDE" AUTHORIZED BY FISCAL 1997 FDA APPROPRIATIONS LEGISLATION

FDA goals for consumer prescription drug medication guides will be written into law as part of appropriations legislation approved by Congress Aug. 1 and sent to President Clinton for an expected signature.
