Oncology Groups Ask HHS To Revise How Sequester’s Cuts Are Applied To Part B Drugs

A 2% cut is being applied first to the average sales price for drugs reimbursed by Medicare Part B, and then another 2% is taken out of the 6% add-on. The approach compounds the overall reduction to a level that far exceeds the 2% Medicare cut required by sequestration, according to the groups.

The 2% reimbursement cuts to the Medicare program from the federal budget sequester should not be applied to the average sales price of Part B drugs and then again to the 6% reimbursement add-on, oncology providers urge HHS in an April 1 letter.

The Medicare cuts, which became effective April 1, are part of the across-the-board government budget sequester established by the 2011 Budget Control Act ([A#14130301005 /]).
