AstraZeneca agreed to pay $7.9 million to resolve allegations it paid kickbacks to Medco Health Solutions for preferred formulary placement of Nexium.

AstraZeneca LP reached a $7.9 million settlement with the Department of Justice to resolve allegations that it paid kickbacks to pharmacy benefit manager Medco Health Solutions Inc. for favorable formulary placement of its now over-the-counter heartburn drug Nexium (esomeprazole).
